TRYPANOSOMIASIS

Blood protozoan disease of all animals

Etiology:

Protozoa named Trypanosoma evansi.

Spread by vectors.

Symptoms:

Acute-

  • High fever
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Frequent urination
  • Salivation
  • High mortality

Sub Acute-

  • Unable to stand
  • Weakness
  • Red Eyes
  • Circulatory movement

Chronic-

  • Anemia
  • Weakness
  • Weight loss with time
  • Difficulty in standing up

Diagnosis:

By laboratory Blood Test

Treatment:

  • Give anti haemoprotozoan drug
  • Suramin/Diminazine Aceturate/Quinpyramine (one of them)
  • Give analgesic injections along with antihistamine and b-complex
