PYOMETRA
PYOMETRA
Accumulation
of pus in uterus is known as pyometra.
Etiology-
- By any bacterial infection (e.g. staphylococci)
- Retention of placenta may cause pyometra.
- After dystocia pyometra may occur
- Uterine prolapse can be the reason of pyometra
Symptoms-
- Reduced milk yield
- Anorexia
- Fever
- Inflamed uterus
- White discharge (Pus) from vulva
- Persistency of corpus Luteum
Diagnose-
- By signs and symptoms
- By rectal palpation
Treatment-
- Prostaglandin should be given to remove the corpus Luteum and to open the OS of cervix
- Remove the pus present in uterus manually
- Intrauterine medication should be given to the animal at least for 3-4 days
- Analgesic and antibiotics along with B-complex injections should also be given the animal.
- Regular mineral mixture should be given to the animals for healthy farming.
