PROLAPSE OF VAGINA
Prolapse of Vagina
Coming out
of some part of vagina is known as prolapse of vagina. Mostly seen in last
trimester of pregnancy.
Etiology:
- Pelvic ligaments become loose due to increase in estrogen hormone produced by placenta.
- Large sized foetus pressurize in cervix outside.
- Mineral deficiency (e.g. hypocalcemia) can cause prolapse of vagina.
- Estrogen containing feed intake.
Symptoms:
- Red colored round or tube like structure is seen outside the valva when animal is in sitting position.
Diagnosis:
- By Sign and symptoms.
Treatment:
- Wash the prolapsed area with 0.1% KMnO4 solution and push it inside the animal body firmly and use rope truss on valve to avoid frequent prolapse.
- Make floor upside from the back portion of animal.
- Avoid estrogen containing feed.
- Use Hydroxyprogesterone injections at an appropriate interval (10-20 days) till parturition.
- Avoid access feeding.
- Feed 3-4 time a day with small quantity of feed.
- Avoid green fodder.
- Use Analgesic or antipyretic medicines for 3-7 days.
- Use Calcium Magnesium Borogluconate I/V.
- Use broad spectrum antibiotic for at least 3 days.
- Use good quality mineral mixture daily.
