MUMMIFICATION OF FOETUS

Death of foetus during pregnancy but foetus does not come out. And placenta and other fluids are absorbed by to uterus.

Etiology-

  • Leptospirosis
  • Blockage of umbilical cord

Symptoms-

  • Anoestrus
  •  Animal found pregnant when palpated by rectal method but no growth seen even after time passed.

Diagnose-

  • Animal does not deliver foetus even after completion of gestation period.
  • Uterus seems hard when rectally palpated
  • Persistency of corpus Luteum

Treatment-

  • Prostaglandin hormone is given to the animal to remove the corpus Luteum and to open the cervix
  • Fetus is removed manually by hand
  • If not possible caesarian section is recommended.
  • Proper antibiotic course should  be done after performing above listed actions
  • Regular mineral mixture feeding is important for healthy farming.
