FOOT ROT
Occurs in
cows and sheep in muddy/moist areas.
Etiology:
Spherophorus
necrophorus is causative agent. Which is gram negative bacteria.
Ways of
spread:
Wounds on
the upper parts of hooves. To keeps the limbs in water or mud for long time.
Symptoms:
- Wounds between the hooves
- Pus formation on affected area
- Hyperthermia
- Reduced milk yield in females
- Difficulty in walking
Diagnosis:
By signs and
symptoms. Differentiate it with FMD by symptoms
Treatment:
- Give broad spectrum antibiotics along with analgesics and b-complex inj. Parentally
- Wash the affected area with antiseptic solution regularly till recovery.
