EPHEMERAL FEVER

Disease of cows below the age of 2 years.

Mortality is low

Etiology:

Occurs by sand fly bite.

Symptoms:

  • High fever up to 107F
  •  Lameness by one leg
  •  Arthritis
  • Anorexia
  • Symptoms will disappear in 3 days so it is called three day sickness

Diagnosis:

By signs and symptoms

Treatment:

  • Give broad spectrum antibiotics (To avoid secondary infection) along with analgesics and multivitamins
  •   Give antihistamine drugs parentally
