Difficulty
in parturition.
Types of Dystocia-
Uterine Dystocia and Foetus Dystocia.
Reasons for uterine Dystocia:
- Abnormal shape or small size of pelvic bone of dam.
- Incomplete dilation of cervix.
- Lake or Uterine contractions.
- Uterine torsion
Treatment of uterine dystocia
- In case of abnormal shape or small size of pelvic bone caesarian section is recommended.
- In case of incomplete dilation of cervix inj. Epidosin 10-15ml is used to dilate the cervix.
- In case of lake of uterine contractions foetus is pulled out with the help of rope or Dystocia hook.
- In case of uterine torsion animal is rotated accordingly. (In right sided uterine torsion animal is rotated in right side and vice-versa.)
Reasons for foetus dystocia:
- Large size of foetus.
- Monster foetus.
- Abnormal position, posture or presentation of foetus.
Treatment of foetus dystocia
- In case of large sized foetus or monster foetus caesarian section is recommended.
- In case of dead foetus fetotomy can be performed.
- In case of abnormal position, posture or presentation of foetus, foetus is manually adjusted to the normal position. Then foetus is pulled out with the help of rope or dystocia hook.
- After performing above listed action proper antibiotic course should be performed.
