 ACTINOBASILLOSIS

Zoonotic bacterial disease of Ruminants.

Etiology - Bacteria called ACTINOBACILLUS LINGNIERESI (Gram Positive bacteria)

This bacteria already found in gut of the animal. This bacterial become active when animal have wound around the mouth. During the disease period this bacteria found the the saliva of the animal. This disease spreads by eating contagious feed of the affected animal.

Symptoms -

• Inflammation of tongue
• Tongue become hard as wood
• Difficulty in eating fodder
• Hyper salivation
• Inflammation of Lymph Nodes

Diagnose - Signs and symptoms and microscopic examination of blood.

Treatment-

• Broad Spectrum antibiotics along with antihistamine, analgesics and multivitamins
• Potassium Iodide 5-7 g orally daily for 5-7days 
• Provide soft and wet fodder to the animal to eat
• Provide good quality of mineral mixture to the animal on regular basis.
